Day 5 and 6 – Earthwork

During day 5 and 6, the job is focused on bringing the land up to near-final grade.  Soil/clay was placed into the piping trench after all the subsurface draining pipes, pool pump pipes and pool wiring conduits were installed.

A bobcat was used to move dirt around the yard, as well as to compact the material. During the second day, a compactor was used to do the serious compacting around the perimeter of the pool. There were many hours spent in compacting the materials around the pool. This helps prepare the substrate to support the concrete deck that would eventually be added.

Additional materials were brought to our site because the amount of excavated materials from the pool site were not enough to rebuild the new topography of the yard. After two days of resculpting the yard, the job was done and the next phase of construction could begin.

The first slideshow shown below documents the work completed on Day 5. There are a few aerial photos thrown in to give a big-picture perspective.

The second slideshow documents the work completed during Day 6. The near-final grade was achieved, the soil compacted, and the side fence was reinstalled. A few aerial photos were shown to document the plan-view extent of the grading.
